Are you off on your summer holiday soon? Have you prepared your business for your time away? Maybe you’ve got someone covering for you, but if you haven’t then consider following this to do list so that you don’t feel you have to be logging into emails and phone messages whilst you’re having some down time:

Email your clients. Drop an email to your clients a few weeks before you plan to be away from your business to let them know so that they can plan for your absence if needs be.

Add to your email footer. Add the dates of your time away to the footer of your emails for a couple of weeks to reinforce the message.

Update your calendar. If you have booking system such as Calendly or Acuity then remember and add your days away to your calendar so that your linked software is updated.

Set an ‘out of office’ response on your emails. This way any new enquiries will know when to expect a response. Don’t wait until the last minute to do this, it can be done in advance. If you do have someone checking your emails for you, then let them know how you’d like them to respond on your behalf.

Remember your answerphone message. Change your mobile answerphone message advising when you’ll be back. If you plan to be completely unavailable to your clients, don’t say please leave a message because if they do this will just play on your mind while you’re trying to relax (some people will leave a message anyway, but most will (hopefully) pay attention!
